I use a regular male to male audio cable, it really screws up the quality, which is why i would recomend a recorder with a usb. Does anybody use one with a USB, are they everything i hope they are?!?!?

I have an Olympus one with USB somewhere around my house. Very nice, since it records directly to an audio file that can be played on the computer after copying it (drag and drop) to the PC.

Yes both mine are usb.......i use the vn3100pc and also the ws300.........the vn series use a usb cable while the WS series are just plug and play.....I would also do it that way and it makes the quality of the recording not sound so good......I was always playing with the volume control on the recorder for it to sound right on the puter speakers......if the volume was too loud on the recorder when playing it back to the recording program the sound would crackle......spend a little more and get yourself a good recorder, you will be happy that you did. I would really recommend checking out the Olympus line of recorders.........you will be happy.

Hey, I've got the ws300 (the silver one on the right). I'm very happy with it, but I've only been using it to record my kids.

BADBOY getting the info over should be easy you should have some kind of sound card with audio in on the PC , if your recorder has an audio out , connect it to the audio in of your soundcard and start a recording session on the sound software you use. Even in win XP you could use
Start>Programs>accessories>entertainment>sound recorder, there is something similar in Vista.

If you have an audio out on your recorder use it and not the head phone connection on playback as you could have an impedance matching issue. also use the audio in on your PC and not the Mic in connection.
What type of sound card and recorder have you.?

http://www.overstock.com/search?keyword ... =HP_Header

http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductLi ... e+Recorder

http://castle.pricewatch.com/s/search.a ... +recorders

The best thing to do is too check around.....sometimes best buy or curcuit city will have an open package and the price would be reduced or do a search online and check out the best prices that way.

My recorder is an Olympus Pearlcoders711, and not sure about the sound card, but I'll find out tonight. I hope I can get this to work!
