That sounds like a great idea. I would love to be able to have a live internet stream on a video camera.

Hey guys, we're getting some mixed feelings up here about what kind of cable to use in our dvr set-up, basically we cant decide if we need shielded cable or not, does anyone know anything about the differences between shielded and not shielded, besides one being a lot cheaper than the other?

Kevin, if you don't run the cable more than 100', then the unshielded will probably be ok. You will have some signal loss, but not enough to matter. If you run the cable for longer distances than that, I would suggest the shielded cable (RG-59), especially if you'll be using barrel connectors to couple runs of cable.

Maybe you could change supplier for your cable, I cant even buy unshieded stuff from our suppliers. On advice from KAPs we have only recently introduced a DVR systrem into our investigations. But in my job we install stacks of CCTV systems and RG59 cable, we can get it for about €20 PER 100m but if i really needed it i could pay 1.5 a meter from the big electronics suppliers. Do you have electrical suppliers to the "trade" over there as that would be the place to get if for a fraction of the price.

I guess we install the cable in areas that are prone to a lot of electrical noise with a lot of load carrying cables running in a restricted area, but a lot of haunted locations dont have this problem as you can use a temp route away from noise and many please dont have a lot going on electrically.

Oh man my biology teacher is from Canada, so she always uses the metric system, and everybody gets completely lost on the conversions, luckily my dad made me learn both when i was little, so its not that hard to understand. But the teacher gets mad about us not knowing the metric system, its pretty funny, and i think that thing is a Euro.

" buy the cable wholesale"
