Ok there is one model of Olympus that I am encouraging everyone to avoid. the VN-4100 model.

I bought them cause they were on sale and looked like a great deal. I think i paid 40 bucks a pop for them, well it turns out that they have this aweful "clicking" noise in the background every single time. Both of them did this so it wasn't a defect in one. I took them on our last investigation and half my audio was ruined because of it. 6 hours for each one just to hear... click, click, click, click.

I tested it back at home to make sure it wasn't the environment and sure enough they both did the same thing again.

needless to say i'm out two recorders with only 1 working.

I have two of the VN 4100-PC and they work fine. I've never had the clicking problem.

I have one as well, I haven't heard that. I do know that I sometimes get a small "click" before an EVP.

Sorry i missed the question alfreddajero,

I like the recorder, but I'm not very sucessful at getting EVPs TBH, infact in my three years of actual investigations (never mind the white noise stuff most of us tried years ago right!!) but I have only captured about three suspect recording. I've been concentrating more on them recently and am trying new things. I coppied your style (being nice and straight forward etc)on our most recent grave yard hunt, I'm still going through the stuff as i have loads of 5 min sessions.

Once on my first investiagtion I got a class B "hehe" all the recordings were gone from my recorder when i went to download them, never happened since (buit another group had a similar experience with the audion on their cam corder in the same place)

I also captured a strange whispering voice, there seemed to be 2, over lapping each other, can't make out what they are saying, it could be anything really.

Another time I got some tapping recordered, but it was not really EVP, it was a tapping.

So thats the sum of my EVP failures, I just have to keep trying i guess. :?
