Stoner: I'll be with an author of ghost hauntings tomorrow, and I'll give her your email address, if that's ok, and allow her to communicate with you directly as to some great books on the subject.

What book is it? I have about 6 Kentucky based ghost story books, and personally, I don't really recommend any of them, lol. Instead of hitting the popular places that everyone WANTS to hear about, they rely heavily on unverifiable and unknown personal accounts. I do have a book on Shaker Ghost stories from Pleasant Hill...that one does offer some places that are actually attainable, hehe.

Kentucky is sorely lacking a good tome of haunted history, so hopefully this author can provide a much needed service! And if she needs any help from uh...the Ashland area...send her my way

hey Phantom and TheresaHPIR

Thats great Phontom, would appreciate an e mail.

The book i have is
Haunted Houses and Family Ghosts of Kentucky by W L Montell.

not a great read so far TBH.

I like real ghost stories where they are taken form A to B, before that I read "Haunted" The true story of a canadian family's experience of living in a haunted house.

It was a brisk read (big test LOL) but I like the story and it seemed real, pity they never really investigated the story more, said they could not pay to get a group in, I guess in that part of Canada people can make a living from the paranormal.

Theresa, I love these sort of books, or peoples accounts of how they investigated real places (not guide books), stuff like " A Haunting" on Discovery Channel , or a lot of what Hans Holtzer wrote, as I like his accounts of investigations, so if you have read anything like that please let me know. I know what you mean about some books being crap, most are IMO, just made up as you go along stories.

A pretty good book that is out now is Ghost Hunting in Kentucky and Beyond by Patti Starr. She is based in Lexington so her books arent that hard to find. She also has a store in Lex also that carries ghost hunting equipment, books, dvd's, clothing, and other neat stuff.

I know her pretty well and the book is full of local places such as the Paris TB Hospital, Mansion at Griffins Gate, and the Old Talbott Tavern in Bardstown. Hope this helps.
