Okay, so far, my favorite books are...

Ghost Hunter's Guidebook - Troy Taylor ( Theresa got me hooked on this one )
Ghost Hunting - The book by Jason Hawes and Grant Wilson ( a GREAT and FUN read ... just hated the pictures in the middle of the book... they don't make any sense )
The Psychology of Superstition - Stuart A. Vyse ( Just a good way to keep people who claim to have hauntings in check with reality )
Discarnotes - By Brian D. Byers ( yeah, its a shamless plug, but is a GREAT book! :) ... oh, and you can purchase it here ---> http://www.lulu.com/content/1346843 ... and if you do BUY it... PLEASE right a review for it at LuLu ... and if it needs changes or if I need to create a new edition, just email me at brian@emania-research.com ... *whew* ... okay... /End_Shameless_Plug.exe )

I've read the Ghost Hunter's Guidebook, and it's pretty decent. I'm getting a copy of your book ASAP. By the way, welcome aboard the KAPS forum family. Glad to have you around!!

Sorry to bump an old topic but I finally got my computer and internet working and have been away since November so besides the 2000+ post I had to catch up on and looking at the podcast etc. I decided to give a couple ideas of the books I been downing since I had no internet. Like most have said alot of the how-to books just rehash the same info over and over. I believe like Phantom told me in the first place :P experance is the best way to learn. I have read bout 10 books on the subject now and for me after you get general info from the how-to books I got more out of reading how the scientific side investagates and how groups with a more spiritual side do the same.

Ghost Worlds by Melba Goodwyn was my favorite from the spiritual side of the coin. I tend to be pretty skeptical on spirtuality but this book and the couple more that I have read has opened my eyes a little and now am more openminded when it comes to the aspect of spirt guides, readings and clairvoyance. I will still take a great EVP photo or video over any of this stuff any day but Melba seems to pretty level headed and informative. Even if her and my opinions on orbs is different at this time.

The Case for Ghost by J. Allen Danelek is a decent book not one of my favorites but its simple skeptic vs believer outlook about the same material such as inteligance living on past death, spirt communication, ghost pictures etc is nice. The chapter on common mishaps when interpeting pictures was really helpful. So next time I get a picture with my breath in it I am not gonna think it was a vortex looking to suck me into the next world lol.

How to Hunt Ghost: A Practical Guide by Joshua P. Warren was my favorite How- to book. Almost all How-To books that I read have the same info or close to it. I cant really think of why I liked this book more then others I just did. The explainations of the different kinds of hauntings and ghost was thoughtful and help me undersand them more. His veiw on tools to use was easier for me to understand and a little more helpful then most but in reality I think I liked it best because it was the first book I read on the subject.

Other books I have read:
Ghost Tech by Vince Wilison Highly recommend

How To Photograph the Paranormal by Leanore Sweet didnt like so well alot of orb pics that helps you tell the differance but I have to look into orbs more closely before I form my opinion on them.

The Orb Project by Klaus Heinemann on the way to my house as I speak from amazon.com hope this gives me the insight into orbs that I seek.

Ghost Hunting by Jason Hawes and Grant Wilson Fun book fromt he show that sparked my intrest to a whole other level. Was always interested in the subject but to see these guys doing it opened my eyes. The book is just a fun book not alot of info in it but a good book for fans of the show.

How to be a Ghosthunter by Richard Southall on its way with The Orb Project have high hopes everyone I know loves it but could never get it at my local bookstore so ordered it when I got my internet back.

Those are the books that helped me the most. Learning is ongoing so I am sure I am gonna pick up a few more ( esp. Discarnotes :P ). Now to fing a group in Western Kentucky that needs a hand lol. I have most of the books I just mentioned (traded a couple) so if anyone wants to borrow them I can mail them to ya.

Yeah, I read the Joshua Warren book, It was kinda cool...didn't agree with everything in it, but I rarely agree completely with anything.

Ghost Hunting was kinda weird for me. It seems to me that when they started doing the show, the investigations got a lot tamer. You can tell when they start listing the stories from places that are televised. That was a bit boring, as we've all seen the eps. It just makes me wonder. It was a breezy read, but I was kinda disappointed.

I'll have to look up some of these other ones people have listed.

It's an ever-expanding field, man. The more experience you get, the less advice you need from books. Hell, you can give US some advice now..LOL
